Biyani talks about the concept of Sabse Sasta Din and you would think he invented if, but actually ask any large format retailer and the would say Biyani just discovered it.

A better publisher and better editing could have made the book much better. It Happened in India is the story of this irreverent Indian entrepreneur who scripted his own success story with an uncanny insight into the mind of the Indian consumer and his own simple philosophy. Suit, boot pahen ke baith jayenge par product nahi bikega. Much of KB’s personality is evident in the way the book has been written – fast-flying, non-pretentious and in-your-face.
Gives a lot of insights into retail business and how the Future Group became what it is today. The book gives some good insights about running a large retail business and building a group of businesses.
The book talks in a colloquial language.
This makes it an interesting reading as we get multiple viewpoints on a story. The detailed descriptions on management principles and functional aspects appear more of a text book kind of reading.
Good informative book, but gets repetitive and sometimes a tad boring. Good to read for someone who a frank account of origin and growth of future group.

Though the book was not a smooth ride as is the case always with non-fiction kishode, yet it would not bore you too much given the transcripts and real life scenarios expressed in the form of stories by people involved with Pantaloons and other group companies of Future group like Central,Big Bazaar to name a few.

Kishor Biyani correctly guessed the need of Indian consumers. Please try again later. He believed in giving the liberty to take decision to people who are working with him. Setup and progress of Biyani group. In an interview, Kishoreji would not look into the eyes or even at the interviewee and would simply ask him — so what do you want to know?

More roadblocks, failures and learnings could be shared in the book. A must read who wants to understand indian buying behaviour.
