Leo Brouwer, Sonata, III. La toccata de Pasquini by Marcin Dylla | ReverbNation

It is atmospheric with drive. It takes me somewhere else I’m glad I posted because aryeh suggested gallen which I’m about to check out right now. Even in his Estudios Sencillos he puts great music into fairly simple pieces. He has to be one of my toccatx composers right now.

What he does with romanza in Em bdouwer romance blows me away. I’d love to get that sheet music. If you havent heard it, its the familiar piece with a lot of calculated interuptions lines, devices, gestures Ricardo is such a sensational musician, and the Brouwer Sonata is in my opinion one of the best pieces in the guitar repertoire.

It fits the definition of a toccata, but frankly, I find it quite boring. I obviously don’t get it. Last edited by Aryeh on Tue Dec 07, Has the tuning in the second movement, with the low E up half a step, been an issue for anybody in live performance?

David Leisner really didn’t like that because the D string is prone to breaking, and left me with the impression that other players wouldn’t either.
